Confidence BE® #BEyourselfie: Ailish
Ailish, 25, had her ileostomy formed following treatment for ulcerative colitis. Here, she shares her experience of using Confidence BE® bags.
“My stoma has turned my health around”
Following a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, doctors tried many different medications to try to help Ailish, but nothing seemed to work, resulting in removal of her colon and an ileostomy. Her recovery was good, but slower than expected due to contracting COVID-19 in hospital. After her surgery, Ailish received lots of support from her boyfriend, family and stoma care nurse, who recommended Confidence BE® Soft Convex when she had problems with her previous stoma bags.

Ailish said she is much healthier now and can do everything she used to be able to do before the operation and more. She has also decided to have ‘barbie butt’ surgery in 2022 – which is the permanent closure of the rectum and anus. When she’s not working, Ailish loves going out for dinner with her boyfriend, hanging out with friends and exercising at the gym. Having the bags in different colours lets her wear a variety of clothing and enjoy socialising with friends.
