Salts Healthcare delighted with donation to Children with Cancer UK
Salts Healthcare is absolutely delighted to have made a donation totalling £19,158 to Children with Cancer UK. This donation is the result of a combined effort of fundraising by Warren Thomas, Group Leader in Production, and Sean Dunne, Manufacturing Engineer, who both ran the London Marathon on Sunday.
The funds were raised via a series of donations from colleagues, family and friends, as well as a number of fundraising events at Salts such as samosa and donut sales. The Salts Healthcare Board of Directors were delighted to double the money raised, resulting in this fantastic total.
Warren, a seasoned marathon runner, completed the London Marathon in 3:17.22 hrs/mins, which he was happy with, although he missed the last 4 weeks of training due to a hamstring injury! Sean, who was running his first ever marathon, finished in 3:29.52 hrs/mins: a truly amazing result! Sean said “I was over the moon with my time. That’s the kind of time I had trained towards so to achieve that on the day was amazing!”.
Prior to the race, Warren and Sean attended the Running Show at the Excel exhibition centre in London, and it was there that they presented Yvonne West from Children with Cancer UK with the cheque for their amazing fundraising total. Yvonne, Senior Sports Manager, said the charity was absolutely delighted and overwhelmed by the donation: “On behalf of all of us at Children with Cancer UK, and all of the families who will benefit from the amazing donation that Salts Healthcare made to Children with Cancer UK, on behalf of Warren Thomas and Sean Dunne taking part in the 2023 TCS London Marathon, thank you so much. Your generosity is astounding and it is hugely appreciated.
Because of people like Warren and Sean undertaking events such as the London Marathon, and incredible companies like Salts, supporting their staff in the way you have, Children with Cancer UK is able to continue the work we do in funding pioneering research into childhood cancers, and support for families when they need it most. It means the world to us, but more importantly to the children we are committed to helping.”
Children with Cancer UK raises money to invest in valuable research into childhood and young adult cancers, as well as supporting families of children living with cancer. To find out more about their amazing work, please visit their website: https://www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk/
