Principles and Practice of Stoma Care Module
In collaboration with De Montfort University (DMU), this dynamic accredited module dives deep into every facet of adult stoma care, from preparation for surgery to long-term management. Two pathways tailored for those aiming for Level 6 (Degree) or Level 7 (Master's), all participants will be fully supported in crafting engaging an oral presentations and high-level written assignments. Expect hands-on workshops, real-world case studies, and expert-led sessions by well-respected clinicians that will elevate your own clinical practice.
This is a fast-paced, interactive module designed to develop advanced skills, knowledge and expertise in stoma care. The module has been designed to allow nurses working within the specialist sphere of stoma care to build upon their previous physiological, psychological and social knowledge base. To facilitate the development of professional critical analysis / synthesis, reflective and thinking skills.
Learning Objectives (From DMU) will vary slightly depending on which pathway the student chooses to study.

PCPH 5020 Level 7 – (30 credits/Master level)
Entry Requirements:

Applicants must have attained a degree at 2:2 level or above (PCPH 5020 level 7 only)

Applicants are required to deliver a 10 minute presentation to peers

Applicants are required to produce a 3000 word assignment
PCPH 3020 Level 6 – (30 credits/Degree level)

Fundamentals of Children's Stoma Care and Continence Management Module
In collaboration with Birmingham City University this unique, accredited module explores caring for a baby and/or child with a stoma or continence issue. The module highlights the distinctive needs of an individual with a stoma as they age from neonate, baby, child through to adolescence, along with exploring the needs of immediate care givers/parents and their role within this journey.
Small bowel transplantation, ACE, Urodynamics and Mitrofanoff, along with Inflammatory Bowel Disease in childhood are just a few of the specialist topics that will be taught by clinical experts from Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The legal and ethical considerations will be examined, as well as reviewing the special needs of children living with a stoma when they go to school.

LBR7463 Level 7 – (20 credits/Master level)

Applicants must be a post graduate nurse working with children with a stoma

Applicants must have attained a degree at 2:2 level or above

Applicants must complete a 500 word critique of an article

Applicants are required to attend all six formal study days as details below

Applicants are required to produce a portfolio of practice-based learning including reflection and a critical analysis
LBR6511 Level 6 – (20 credits/Degree level)
